Snack Packs For Alternative House

Last Friday, January 23, Clarissa and a group of other IBWAM-wers met up at Jammin Java, a music venue in Vienna Virginia where Margot MacDonald gave a free acoustic show. Even pigs enjoyed it (literally). Once at Jammin Java, the IBWAM-ers put together snack packs to aid charity Alternative House which supports families and children in the area.

Updates About Next CookBook

So we're planning for a second round of cookbooks to get published. Quantity's going to be limited (10-40, depending on whatever deal we can get).

Each cookbook will feature a page for each band featured plus their recipe. We're planning to be working in conjunction with Fans4Bands, a promotion company for new music. Release date is to be determined (probably April) , but we're planning fundraisers in the Northern VA/DC Metro Area so we can get this published :) (Or, there's always IBWAMStore)...

Things have been moving slow this first month (midterms, yikes!), but if you know any bands who are interested in getting FREE promotion through our cookbook, contact us at IndieBandsWithaMission@live.com

REQUIREMENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE

  1. Completed interview questionnaire (email us for this)
  2. Permission to display any content you give us.
  3. Picture of band.
  4. URL for any links you want displayed (Youtube, Purevolume, Myspace)
  5. Add us to your top friends
  6. Add our banner to your page.
  7. Now in terms of recipe, we will need:

      • 1. Name of recipe
      • 2. Ingredients
      • 3. Step by Step instructions
      • 4. Picture of how it should look.
Remember, profits benefit Washington DC food banks!

Featured IBWAM Artist of the Week: Happy Body, Slow Brain

Happy Body Slow Brain side project formed by Matt Fazzi and Isaac Bolivar of Taking Back Sunday.

In their words:

Happy Body, Slow Brain is my personal sleepy songs. I used to be in a prog-rock band from San Francisco called FACING NEW YORK (www.myspace.com/facingnewyork) but now my main squeeze is TAKING BACK SUNDAY (www.myspace.com/takingbacksunday).
Check out their music on myspace! :)

New Cookbook Available: Wonder Treats That Bands Fantasize About

As always, handmade and one of a kind. All profits benefit IBWAM.
There's a lot of love put into this: each book takes about 6 hours of actual labour to make (not including printing/drying time). Punching holes into thick paper over 300 times isn't the most fun thing to do :p
The cookbook will be for sale on our Etsy Store for $15 and will be shipped through USPS media mail. Other mailing options are available at the buyer's discretion.
Need convincing? Let Hotspur work their magic.

Also, some supplies I had ordered from some Etsy sellers just came in! Look out for cute rose rings and hair pins in the $2-3 range :)

Featured IBWAM Artist of the Week: Corrin Campbell

A combat veteran of OIF II, Corrin Campbell has played music in many corners of the world, including Cuba, Korea, Iraq and all over the United States. Formerly serving in the 1st Cavalry Division and now working with the 229th Maryland Army National Guard Band, she values the troops and hopes to continue serving them and all other music lovers.
Forming in May of 2008, Corrin Campbell & the Election have taken the Baltimore pop music scene by storm in a short time.  The band’s first show was at Fletcher’s in Baltimore and Corrin’s first EP, Exhibit A, was hot off the press.  The band released a single, “Sunbeam” in November 2008, and released their first full-length record, Game Night, on November 24, 2009.
IBWAM was lucky enough to receive two autographed copies of Game Night! One copy was just mailed off to a participant in our ended Youtube video contest and another is currently residing in Pasadena, CA.

The group has been compared to other female-led groups like Evanescence, Paramore and Heart, only I would say Campbell's songs really resonated with me.
Check out some of their songs on their Myspace, or add them on Twitter (she doesn't bite! ^_^)

Why Helping Us Out Just Might Be One of the Best Decisions of Your Life

1. All profits collected benefit charities in the Washington DC area. If we're able to successfully collect more funds, we'd consider opening a Los Angeles branch (*crossed fingers*) :)
2. All the items in our store are handmade with love. <3
3. Buying= Donating. Because we take no profits from the purchases it’s like helping out a charity while getting a free handmade gift of your choice!
4. We don't rip you off like all those other shops who overprice their items and send 10% to charity. (Yes, we know money’s always a factor).
5. We donate to non-profit charities in the Washington DC area. Next month's charity is still to be determined-- we're open to suggestions!
So it’s good for the environment and helps others!
